Director of an ACS company jailed for 7 years

A security director of an Approved Contractor Scheme company was jailed for seven years for immigration offences following SIA investigations with the UK Border Agency.

SIA supported the UK Border Agency (now titled the UK Visas and Immigration), in its investigation and prosecution of Dr Yilkyes Finok Tonglele Bala, director of Golden Shield Security Limited and Mayfair and Knightsbridge Guarding Limited.

Mark Burtonwood, SIA Business Approvals Risk Manager worked closely with the UK Border Agency staff throughout the investigation. He provided guidance and advice on what is required of approved contractors including what measures should be in place for the screening and vetting of staff and determining their right to work in the UK.

Buying Right: Security in Construction

Buying Right is a new campaign to support security buyers.

Buying Right will work alongside HM Revenue and Customs and UK Visas and Immigration, to help protect security buyers against risks such as immigration, tax, and security licensing offences.

They will be working with security buyers in the construction industry, where some security arrangements have been identified as high risk. With the support of HMRC partners, their investigators will be meeting with construction companies to offer advice and support on due diligence and best practice, and to ensure construction companies are procuring lawful security services.

Night Owl (Exeter) Security Ltd don't have the power.

Altin Laska and Ali Abdol Anvari were found guilty at Exeter Magistrate’s Court on August 21st 2014 for supplying unlicenced security operatives.

Altin Laska and Jetmir Luli ran the security company Night Owl (Exeter) Security Ltd in and were sub-contracted to provide EDF energy security guards.


Security Bolt

Three security guards at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games have been sacked for taking a selfie with Olympic champion Usain Bolt.

The security guards were removed from their positions for taking mobile phone photographs with the Jamaican super-star.

Usain was training at the practice facility next to Hampden Park when the three security members approached him and asked for a photo opportunity.

Glos Apprentice finalistGlevum Security Limited has been in Business in Gloucestershire since March 2000 and since this time has put employment of individuals of all abilities at the heart of our employment practice.

The company has been engaging with local employability partners such as PLUSS and others and work closely with these partners to ensure people of all abilities have access to the wider Security Industry via our own dedicated SIA Licence Training Academy we opened in the county and have been running since 2006. The company provides work placements working with partners such as PLUSS, Prospect Training Services, JCP`s in the county as well as NHS Together Trust.

We currently have a placement in our accounts dept (TW) which runs every week on a Wednesday providing him much needed practical experience of working in an accounts office environment, from which to date we provide referencing for him at any job interviews he secures. Another placement in Oct/Nov 2012 saw us provide one to one mentoring for a learner via PLUSS and HFT (NH)who was desperate to get practical experience in an administrative role and Glevum Security were chosen as the employer most likely to make that process a success for her.
